Snowflakes for Sandy Hook Elementary School -1Before leaving for Christmas break, one of my colleagues alerted me to an opportunity to show support for the Newtown school community.  The Newtown PTA asked people around the world to send them paper snowflakes in an effort to turn their school into a winter wonderland.  We got back to school on January 2nd and I asked teachers to support the effort and turn in snowflakes in just 3 short days so that I could mail them in time.

I was so pleased with the great response that we got under such short notice.  However, before mailing the snowflakes, I went on the Newtown PTA website and saw their note thanking everyone for the thousands of snowflakes that they had received.  They were overwhelmed with the support and had to stop collecting snowflakes.  The PTA asked schools to display the snowflakes around their own schools and community to show their support for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

My Student Council created our own little winter wonderland on one of the bulletin boards in the foyer of our school.  It looks wonderful and I love seeing them all hanging together.  I took a picture, which I will be sending to the school.  Please consider showing your support and making your own winter wonderland at your school or in your community!
