- Anti-Bullying Bulletin Boards
This year my Student Council had adopted the theme “Be a Buddy, NOT a Bully!” I wanted to share two of our bulletin boards that we created to go along with the theme.
The first bulletin board said “Bully or Buddy?” The officers created creatures that were holding pieces of paper with descriptions of positive and negative actions on them. Classes viewed the bulletin board and discussed which creatures were acting like buddies and which creatures were acting like bullies. I love bulletin boards that are interactive and spark discussion, so this was a great one! We got the idea from here.
The second bulletin board was inspired from this website. The board asks the question “What Does It Take to Prevent Bullying?” The students used green and gold glitter (our school colors) to write the word ALEXANDER which was placed on the middle of the board. The students determined what characteristics a person may need to prevent bullying. We used my scrap paper bin and cut out letters to spell out the words BRAVERY, LEADERSHIP, INTEGIRTY, SETTING THE EXAMPLE, COURAGE, HONESTY, KINDNESS, RESPECT, and HONOR. We framed them around the word ALEXANDER, similar to an acrostic poem. Each morning the officers gave an announcement explaining one of the words, what it means, and how it can help to prevent bullying. What does it take to prevent bullying? It takes YOU!
