Have you ever wondered if there was more to board games than Monopoly, Scrabble, Yahtzee, and Risk? If you have, then this is the camp for you! These games, most often played with family members for quality time, represent the antiquated past of board gaming as a hobby. The Settlers of Catan, the first German style board game to achieve popularity in the United States, began a board game evolution of a 5,000 year old hobby, which has since flourished into the 21st century. In this camp we will examine the evolution of board gaming as a hobby.  We will look at gateway games that can help people enter into the hobby, the ever popular deck-building genre, cooperative games, living card games, the unique styles of European games, highly thematic games, mechanically focused games, war games, and more! Come join in on the fun and learn about an exciting and ever growing hobby! August 12-16, 12:30-3:30pm. 13-18 years old. Instructor: Joseph Bromley. Min. 5 students; Max. 10 students.  $100
