Students in grades 5-8 are invited to join us as we read Ghost in the Machine by Patrick Carman, the second book in the Skeleton Creek series. Students will experience this book in a unique and thrilling manner, reading the words of a young boy’s journal, and watching corresponding videos that the students unlock with passwords given throughout the book. We will work together to solve the mystery presented in this suspenseful story, write in our own personal journals and engage in themed activities. A light snack will be provided at each session. Please bring a copy of the book. Students should complete Skeleton Creek (book 1) before this program.
Ryan and Sarah are best friends who love a good mystery. In the first book of the series, the friends search to find the secrets of their town and the name that was given to it: “Skeleton Creek.” Things turn dangerous as the pair sneak out to the haunted dredge in the middle of the night. Ryan and Sara come face to face with the ghost of Old Joe Bush and are locked in a secret compartment of the dredge. We pick up the story this month and Will anyone find them? How will they go out? What does the ghost plan to do with his prisoners? We follow along on their mystery while reading Ryan’s thoughts in his journal, their emails to each other, and watching Sarah’s videos. March 14, 21, and 28. 6:30-8:00pm. Grades 5-8. Instructor: Colleen McNamara. $39
